What are the benefits of listing my vineyard with Campable?

Here are a few of the ways that vineyards make extra revenue with Campable:

  • Your vineyard can increase its revenue through Campable with underutilised space. Travellers value a night at a beautiful New Zealand vineyard, and many hosts pair it with a tasting or a bottle of wine.
  • As well as directly boosting revenue through overnight bookings, Campable attracts high-value travellers from home and overseas to your cellar door. Expect more bottles of wine bought, and for those who also have a restaurant, more dinners and lunches booked.
  • Some Hosts also join Campable to fund a specific project. Whether your vineyard wants to donate to a charity, fund an environmental project on your land, or you have a passion project to work toward, Campable allows you to build up money for a cause - and all from the space you already have.

How much revenue will my vineyard produce with Campable?

Your income depends on your nightly price, how many vehicles you take at once, and which nights you're open. You choose all three, and you can pause your listing whenever it doesn't suit you.

It's free to list. Campable's commission is 25% of the nightly price (and 15% of any extra-person charges and add-ons), worked out on what the guest paid after the card-processing fee. For example, on a $30 night the card fee is about $1.17 and you receive about $21.60. See Payments, fees & tax for the details.

What nightly rate should I charge?

Hosts set their own price, from $25 a night (the minimum). The price suggestion on each site shows what similar places nearby charge and how often they're booked, so use it as your starting point. The examples below show how different offerings can be priced.

So how much should you charge? That depends on a few things…

  • Firstly, what amenities are you providing? If your Guests will have access to water, power, rubbish disposal, toilets, showers or wifi, your property will be more highly valued.
  • As well as amenities, many vineyards will provide something extra to attract visitors to the cellar doors, and make a stay more enjoyable. Whether this is a bottle of your own wine, a $20 gift voucher for your restaurant, a free wine tasting, a picnic hamper, or a tour of your property, these special additions make all the difference.
  • Another thing to consider is how many motorhomes you will allow to stay per night. Travellers will pay more for an exclusive experience, where they have privacy and space. To be the only travellers staying at a secluded spot in a beautiful vineyard is certainly worth something.

Here are a few examples of how vineyards with different offerings might price one night’s stay for Campable travellers.

  1. $40 per night. Offers a free bottle of wine or $20 voucher.
  2. $95 per night. Offers a premium bottle of wine and two branded souvenir glasses.
  3. $150 per night. Offers a picnic hamper, including a bottle of wine, bread, olive oil and cheeses, and a tour of the vineyard. Each motorhome has a private area to park in with a nice view.

At any nightly rate, providing amenities such as a shower, toilet, wifi, and power are very welcomed, but you are also free to request self-contained motorhomes only.

What if someone is badly behaved at my vineyard?

At Campable we know that staying on a private vineyard is not at all like staying at a camp ground - it is a privilege, and we make sure that our Guests know this, too. Here's how we and our Hosts can make sure Guests are aware of the behaviour expected of them:

  • Put your rules for visitors in your listing's house rules, so Campable guests see them before they book.
  • Guests are also held accountable to the Campable Rules of Etiquette, so in the unlikely event that they do not respect your property, we can remove them from Campable. Contact us straight away if it happens, and leave an honest review of the guest.

What about Health and Safety?

The health and safety of our Hosts and Guests is our absolute priority. Here's how we can ensure that everyone is well-informed about safety:

If you have your own health and safety policy, include the key points in your house rules and arrival instructions, so guests see them before they arrive. (Listings can't contain phone numbers, emails or web links.) We also recommend the OnSide app, which helps you to manage workplace health and safety.

Campable also addresses health and safety in two ways:

  • In the Health and Safety page, which tells you what Campable does to keep Guests safe, and what our Hosts can do.
  • In the Rules of Etiquette, which outlines the behaviour expected of a Guest when they stay with any Campable Host. This includes an explanation of potential hazards and safety risks when staying on private property, and Guests are bound by these standards, as is stated in our Terms and Conditions.
