Stokes Valley Suburban Stopover, a private property for campervans and motorhomes near Lower Hutt, Wellington

The place

Self-contained motorhomes and camper vans welcome.
Cars and tent pitchers welcome.
Children and pets welcome!

Our home is located at the quiet end of Stokes Valley. We have a spacious driveway - you can set up an awning if you'd like. We also have a sizeable yard right next to the driveway where you can barbecue or pitch a tent or gazebo. Our yard has play equipment for those with young children. Guests can arrive on Friday evenings after 5 PM, and must depart by Monday morning 7 AM.

Happy to discuss use of shower or laundry facilities for a small fee. However, this will require access to our home so can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

LOOKING FOR CONVENIENCE:
5 minute drive or an 11 minute bus ride to Stokes Valley town centre:
-local New World supermarket
-vibrant neighborhood hub that houses local library and hosts gatherings for adults and children
-selection of restaurants such as a couple Fish and Chip shop, Town and Country Foods (roasts and the sort), Hede's Kitchen (delicious dumplings and beef noodles), and Hardware Bar and Restaurant

We also have a dairy (convenience store) right down the street for simple purchases.

30 minute drive to Wellington CBD and 20 minute drive to Upper Hutt town center.

LOOKING FOR NATURE:
This site is surrounded by native forest and you will undoubtedly hear birdsong at the start and end of each day. Sometimes the tuis get very chatty and flighty outside our home! If you are lucky Piwakawaka (fantails aka hiker's friend) will follow you as you walk around the neighborhood.

There are lovely trails in the Stokes Valley area such as the Horoeka Reserve Trail (with fairy houses!), Tawhai loop trail, and Kingsley Loop Trail. The Stokes Valley Stairs take you up to beautiful views. There are many spots for a picnic or people watching. The Bhuddist Monastery at the end of Stokes Valley Road is a 20 minute walk and a lovely, peaceful retreat. Right at the entrance of Stokes Valley is the Hutt River Trail which runs from Lower Hutt to Upper Hutt - a great spot for a relaxing walk or bike ride.
