Hakono Macadamias
Campervan and motorhome stay in Pollok, Auckland, New Zealand · Rated 5 out of 5 (3 reviews) · from $25 a night
The place
The site is located on a 16 acre Macadamia and grazing property, on the Awhitu Peninsular, close to the Manukau Harbour (there is a small landing reserve at the bottom of Gordon Road). It is a quiet private site between the orchard and the paddocks away from the main home. Only an hours drive from Auckland (if it is not rush hour) what better way to be close to the city without any city hassles.
There is room for two camper vans if you are travelling in a pair, otherwise one van at a time. It does not offer campground facilities but there will be a complimentary bag of nuts.
There are cattle often grazing in the adjacent paddock behind electric fences (ouch, please do not touch). You may also see the free ranging chooks and guinea fowl. Wood pigeons eat the bounty of the nearby Puriri trees; there is a blue heron nest up in one of the cryptomeria trees; the pheasants call and the frogs may croak.
The beautiful Awhitu Peninsula is a treasure to explore and has wild, black sand west coast beaches, gentle harbour beaches and fabulous views of the Manukau Heads from the restored lighthouse.
