Dukes Nose Campsite

The place

Ours is a private site for up to 10 campers. The Dukes Nose / Wairakau Stream Track starts on our boundary. You can set up camp - stay the night - walk the track and come back to an already set up camp. There is a creek running through the campsite , which is surrounded by native bush. We are minutes from the Totara North Wharf and boat ramp. There is also a lovely private walkway - open to the public - out to the upper harbour with magnificent views, and a 600+ year old pohutukawa tree that starts a few minutes walk from the campsite.

Perfectly located for a day hike to Dukes Nose. Owner happy for you to stay overnight and walk the next day so saves you $5 parking. Sink, BBQ and long drop loo. Midges. Big eel in stream.

Lovely, peaceful campsite perfect for Duke’s Nose hike. Mary Anne was friendly, gave lots of tips for what else to explore in the surrounding area and came down to check on campers each evening.
