Te Oranga
Campervan and motorhome stay in Maungatapere, Northland, New Zealand · Rated 5 out of 5 (6 reviews) · from $25 a night
The place
The rural village of Maungatapere is close to Whangarei on Highway 14. Our small farm, Te Oranga, is in a quiet, private location sited up a small volcano!
Te Oranga means "well-being." It is a small working horticultural/ livestock farm. You'll love staying here because you'll get a real feel for kiwi life. We are Kiwis, and yes if you are bored and want to help us on the farm you can! This site is close to beautiful open spaces, like the volcano Mt Maungatapere, which we look directly at while sitting on our volcano, Mt Whatitiri. Don't worry all are asleep.
We are 20 mins from Whangarei, an hour from either a west coast or east coast Northland beach and about 1.5 hrs from the Kauri forests of Northland.
The Packard and Pioneer museum is in Maungatapere.
Pre-booking by email is best but Guests can book on the day. However, as we are usually outside throughout the day it is best to text a message or ring in the lunch hour.
To just Park-over and be totally self contained (not plugged into power etc ) it is $25 per site per night.
To plug into power it is a further $10 per night per vehicle, but you will probably need a long extension cord.

A lovely place to stay, a short drive into Whangarei. Janet and Andre are really friendly and welcoming hosts and we really enjoyed spending time with them. We would be glad to visit again.
Such a wonderful, peaceful place and the best hospitality!
Janet is a lovely hostess and the farm is a little slice of paradise 😍
Janet made us very welcome and it is a lovely place to stay. Very quiet and peaceful. Having power, toilet and shower means there is nothing more to ask for. Avocados picked from the tree were a bonus
An idyllic and peaceful stay. Wished we had more time to enjoy such an excellent stay and take in all that was on offer in the local area. Brilliant setup and services & a welcoming host.
